
Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), İsmail Gülle, made significant statements regarding the growth in exports during 2021 and future targets. He highlighted that Turkey’s exports between January and October 2021 increased by 34%, reaching $181.8 billion, emphasizing the crucial role of halal products in this achievement.
Global Expansion of the Halal MarketGülle pointed out that the global halal market has surpassed $4 trillion and is expected to reach $7 trillion within the next decade. He stressed that the growing demand from 2 billion Muslim consumers is driving this expansion. Gülle also stated that halal products can become a trusted global brand, appealing to both Muslim and non-Muslim consumers worldwide.
Turkey as a Reliable SupplierTurkey’s uninterrupted exports during the pandemic have positioned it as a reliable supplier in global markets. In October 2021, Turkey’s exports reached $20.8 billion, marking a 20.2% increase compared to the same period the previous year. This milestone reinforced Turkey’s standing as an alternative production hub in the global supply chain.
Target: $300 Billion in ExportsTİM has set an ambitious target of achieving $300 billion in exports by 2026. Gülle emphasized the importance of enhancing regional cooperation and investing in logistics infrastructure to meet this goal. He noted that in 2021, Turkey exported to 229 countries, increasing its exports in 187 of them, and proudly stated, “We have entered a new league in exports, and the Turkish brand is strengthening.”
Economic Independence for TurkeyWith the slogan “Turkey with a Trade Surplus,” Gülle highlighted that the ratio of exports to imports reached 93%. He affirmed that achieving a trade surplus will ensure Turkey’s economic independence, aligning with the country’s centennial goals.
Gülle expressed confidence that by managing this momentum effectively, Turkey will surpass the 2023 export target of $242 billion as early as 2022.
